blue clothes... blue shoes... blue hair OH MY!

so today is spirit day at school for homecoming- my first born neat freak lint rolling kid, neal, wore blue from head to toe (school colors) and when i say HEAD- I mean- he had blue hair! he also had on a blue tshirt- and blue basketball shorts- with blue baseball socks up to his knees with his blue nikes. yeah- quite the image to behold...

harrison wore a white shirt with jean shorts--- TOTALLY played it safe and even left his hair as God intended. (go figure!?) he is worried about wearing 'plain clothes' and that he will end up in trouble and sent to the principal for being out of uniform. this from the kid who believes in life that the risk is worth the consequences.

can you say role reversal?
what is happening in my home?!??!?
i'm going back to bed.

that’s right. i’m the KING! i’m the KING!

so one of my dearest friends had a new baby and adjusting to life with 2 is kickin her hiney and this lil 10 lb butterball is rockin their world...

we were making dinner again for them one afternoon when my 10 year old, harrison said- "ya know what mom? God must be really happy we are helping them!"

i told him that i thought so too- and that is what we are supposed to do for others. i figured this was a good time to talk about doing just that and how we even receive a blessing in it- yada yada yada. at that point i'm pretty sure he tuned me out but i could still hear myself trying to make some profound point to my 10 year old all the while thinking this was a sweet teaching jesus moment.

with his blue eyes twinklin and his contagious smile grinnin, he started doing a silly lil dance jig and replied: "I think God is looking down and saying, 'that's right- i made them. uh huh. i'm the king. i'm the king. i made them. I'm the KING!' "

i laughed and yet was touched that he 'got it'

i replied~ you are right. he IS the king!
